Boundaries: The Foundation of an Individuated Life
A framework for navigating the tension between becoming and belonging.
Divine Lines is a living inquiry into boundaries and belonging—bringing research, teaching, and practice together to explore how we become more fully ourselves without retreating from relationship, community, and participation in the world.
An individuated life one seeking wholeness, increasingly shaped by who we were born to be what we consciously choose—not simply by the values, roles, expectations, and limiting patterns we absorbed through upbringing and culture.
The Framework
Boundaries are about much more than just saying no.
They are about knowing yourself well enough to recognize where your lines are—what belongs to you, what matters to you, what you will protect, and what you will not abandon in yourself.
A boundary is a decision about what you will and will not participate in.
A boundary begins inside.
It may be expressed outwardly, reflected in a change in your own behavior, or simply become something you know to be true.
Self-authority does not mean denying the reality of our individual circumstances or the consequences of our choices. It means seeing them clearly and deciding for ourselves how we will meet them.
Divine Lines offers a framework—a consistent, reliable method—for developing that authority from the inside out.
The Divine Lines framework is grounded in 20 Foundational Principles that are inclusive, trauma-informed, and rooted in spiritual concepts but do not include religious doctrine. (For now, they are taught only through Divine Lines courses.)
We begin by honoring what is precious—our bodies, inner lives, relationships, and values—and recognizing what is limited—our time, energy, attention, and resources.
We practice making conscious decisions about our relationships with other people, communities, food, alcohol, money, technology, work, time, and our own patterns.
And then we practice living those decisions.
This is a learning process, not a one-time event.
Here, boundaries move out of theory and into lived experience through specific tools, teaching, and practice.
Underlying this work is a shared understanding that we are divinely created and unconditionally loved by something greater than ourselves—and entrusted with the care of this one life to the best of our ability within the reality of our circumstances.
Boundaries are an art form: knowing yourself, loving what you find, discerning your lines, and developing the capacity to live them.
That is the ongoing work of an evolving life.
How We Apply the Framework
We examine the beliefs, patterns, and pressures shaping our choices.
We use specific tools to identify what we actually believe, desire, and value most highly.
We practice drawing lines—and discerning when, where, and how to express them.
We rehearse difficult conversations and prepare for the experience of exposure, anxiety, and pushback.
We build the capacity to hold our lines when self-doubt, fear, guilt, or old learned patterns show up.
We rely on something beyond us that pulls us toward wholeness and holds us through the process of becoming.
We rejoice in the buzzy aliveness that comes when we reach beyond what we thought was possible and meet ourselves.
It is glorious. It is worth it.
So we do it again.
